Cabbagetown
Welcome to Cabbagetown
Along the eastern edge of Toronto’s downtown core, you’ll find Cabbagetown – a romantic, residential, and close-knit community.
The Basics
If you head east from Yonge-Dundas Square, it won’t be long before you find yourself strolling the streets and avenues of Cabbagetown. This neighbourhood, conveniently found on the eastern edge of downtown (before the Don River), is a quaint and thriving community whose core can be found at the intersection of Carlton and Parliament Street.
The Accessibility
Most of the folks who live in Cabbagetown don’t leave the area for much – this close-knit community has a variety of shops which cover pretty much all of your needs. That said, the streetcar which runs along Gerrard offers access to both the east end and downtown Toronto. At the same time, Bayview Avenue (to the east) is an easy way to access the Don Valley Parkway.
The Local Homes
Once described as the neighbourhood “containing the largest collection of Victorian homes in North America” (New York Times), many of Cabbagetown’s homes are opulent, have their own distinctive grace, and have been meticulously cared for by their owners. You can find some of the most picturesque architecture in all of Toronto right here.
The Lifestyle
Residents are proud of Cabbagetown and they remain steadfastly loyal to local businesses. That said, the area is filled with families, young and old, as well as young professionals and downsizers. Locals go for afternoon walks, spend their weekends at Riverdale Park, and their evenings at the local pubs or curled up on the couch. It’s this idyllic downtown lifestyle which attracts so many to this neck of the woods.
