Trends in Kitchen Design by the Cameo Design Team
Preparing and sharing meals play a large part in how we connect with one another, and there’s no denying the kitchen plays a central part in home life. If you are dreaming of the ultimate kitchen, here are a few trends to keep in mind.
COLOUR TRENDS
While white kitchens aren’t disappearing anytime soon, the mix has evolved. Where we once saw white lacquered cabinets paired with walnut islands and accents, white oak has now become the wood finish of the day. Wire-brushed and bleached, this light wood finish looks equally at home in transitional and contemporary kitchens.
NEW MATERIALS
Custom kitchens often incorporate bespoke metal elements. Though we’ve seen canopies with metal finishes for years, metal details are now finding their way into door and drawer fronts via inlays, edge-wraps, integrated hardware, and slim frames for glass doors. Metallic cabinet fronts are also more attainable, with a range of panels available in brushed stainless, soft gold, and bronze.
HIGH TECHNOLOGY
Trends and technology regularly intersect in today’s kitchen design, with high end hinges, lift systems, and automatic openers, such as Blum’s ‘servo-drive,’ powering sleek and modern kitchens. Of course, depending on your needs and imagination, technology can take on the starring role in your construction projects with LED lighting, Smart Home systems, and even digital kitchen backsplashes.
