The 2018 Park Lane Spring Gala was an incredible event, and had an incredibly special performance by The Barenaked Ladies. It was held at the Toronto Botanical Gardens, and all proceeds were helping to support Park Lane School and the Post 21 Foundation. Park Lane Public School helps to serve students aged 4-21 with developmental disabilities, and their staff assist each student to meet their unique needs, identify their personal potential, and grow towards the greatest level of independence. For more information about Park Lane, please visit here. Once these children reach 21, the government does not continue funding for their education and special care. That’s where the Post 21 Foundation comes in, as they are trying to raise money and awareness to open facilities where children over the age of 21 can still receive care. The Kalles family is a supporter of Jacob’s Ladder and the Park Lane School, and has a personal connection to Ellen Schwartz and Jacob Schwartz. Jacob has a developmental disability and just celebrated his 21st birthday, something that did not seem possible after the doctors told his parents he probably would not live past five years old.
The Fort York Food Bank was forced to move to a new location, and they need to raise funds to assist in this endeavour. Donations over $20 are Tax deductible, and Harvey Kalles has agreed to match all donations, dollar for dollar. Online donations can be made. Their vision is to feed the hungry through the following programs: 3-day Food programs (consistent with Canada’s Food Guide), Drop in Centre for computer access, clothing, and books/magazines, and Information and support (case work, resources, and workshops to address the underlying challenges faced by our clients).

Camp Scugog has been a place where children, youth, and mothers affected by poverty can enjoy summer time programming since 1931.
